To meet the needs of a healthcare client, a cost-effective and reliable database solution was required. An ideal solution that does not have any management overhead, requires no DBA skills, needs no operating system maintenance or patching, and also guarantees very high availability. This was particularly because the clientele is expected to increase very fast with partners organizations signing up for the service very quickly.


In the ever-changing landscape of healthcare, one thing remains constant: the need for accurate and up-to-date patient data. To meet this need, the client collected patient and health data from multiple sources.

As this resulted in a more complete picture of the patient, it led to degradation of the locally managed MySQL database. This was probably due to high volume of data being moved in and out of the database. The client was experiencing frequent downtimes that degraded their user experience.

To address this, they needed a new database to easily scale up and maintain compliance with regulations protecting sensitive patient data while still providing the necessary performance levels for business continuity


Problem of database being slow and crashing many times a day, AWS RDS MySQL is deployed. It makes it easy to set up and operate a highly available database system. By using RDS, the client was assured that their applications will continue to function even if one of the database servers fails.

In addition, it will automatically scale to meet the demands of their website and applications, making it a perfect solution to avoid database failures.

Deployment of AWS RDS MySQL also addressed the concerns around loss of data and service, as RDS has the ability to provision multiple replicas of the database this optimizing the read and write performance as the load on the applications increases.

With the deployment of AWS RDS MySQL, the client can now rest assured that their data is safe from loss because it creates replicas for every database instance. This means an increase in read and write performance as user load increases on applications using this service!
